PET SHOOT INFO PACK

How the Shoot Works

When I arrive, we’ll have a quick chat about what you’re after, any specific shots you want, anything to avoid. I’ll explain how the session will run, where we’ll start, and what to expect.

The main thing: it’s relaxed. Your pet sets the pace, and we go with whatever they’re comfortable with.

What to Bring

A few simple bits you may want to bring:

  • Treats - small, smelly ones are best

  • Favourite toy

  • Lead

  • Water

  • Poo bags

  • Brush/wipes (if your dog gets easily dusty/muddy)

  • A long line if they can’t be off-lead

  • Coat if it’s cold and they feel the cold

If we’re shooting at your home:

  • A tidy area near the best window light if possible

    What You Should Wear

  • If you’re going to be in the photos too which I always recommend - stick to neutral, earthy tones: creams, browns, greens, soft blues.

  • Avoid bright colours, glowing neon, patterns, heavy textures. If you need any help with this, give me a shout.

  • Keep accessories simple

  • Comfortable/practical shoes - some of the shoot spots are off the track

  • If in doubt, just ask!

    What to Avoid

  • Harnesses that cover half their body
(if your dog needs one, that’s fine just avoid the bulky ones if possible)

  • Dogs arriving hyper from the car - give them 5–10 mins to sniff and burn off some energy

  • Distractions - bringing people not in the photos/other pets

Top Tips for a Great Shoot

  • A slightly hungry dog works best -they’ll respond really well to treats

  • Walk them before the shoot, but don’t exhaust them

  • If your dog is nervous, don’t worry - we take it slow

  • Don’t stress if they misbehave!

If We’re Shooting at Your Home

  • Clear any clutter from the spots we are likely shoot

  • Neutral backgrounds work beautifully

    Weather & Rescheduling

  • If the weather turns grim, we can reschedule. Some of the nicest shots come in overcast light, so don’t panic if it’s grey

    Safety + Behaviour

  • Your dog stays your responsibility during the shoot

  • If they’re off-lead, it’s at your discretion

  • Let me know any triggers: bikes, kids, horses, other dogs

    After the shoot

Once the fun of the shoot is finished it’s over to me. Here’s exactly what happens:

  • Within 1 week, I’ll send you an email which will have a link to the private online preview gallery

  • You choose your favourites

  • Simple “heart your favourites” button

This is where you choose the images included in your package and decide if you want any extras. Once you’ve chosen your images, you’ll receive another private gallery link where you can download your chosen images in high resolution. You can also order additional prints and merchandise. The gallery stays live for 30 days.
